Fabrication of Ankle Foot Orthosis using digital technologies
Lasota, Marek ; Koutecký, Tomáš (referee) ; Koutný, Daniel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis presents a new way of an orthotic devices fabrication via digital technologies of 3D scanning, CAD modeling and rapid prototyping. First, as a part of an analysis of a present knowledge, is the usual way of an AFO fabrication described, including its disadvantages. Then the new method is outlined. Following, a thorough research of past works, which were already dealing with this subject, is done. In the second half of the thesis is the novel approach demonstrated in a development of an ankle-foot orthosis concept based on scanned data of a healthy subject‘s leg. In conclusion, an overall review and comparision of both fabrication processes is made.
Can the adverse complications of foot drop be prevented by endoprosthesis: design and development of a prototype device
El-Osta, Bassel ; Trč, Tomáš (advisor) ; Douša, Pavel (referee) ; Burget, Filip (referee)
Can the adverse complications of foot drop be prevented by an endoprosthesis: design and development of a prototype device Abstract Foot drop is a very old problem since Jacob from the bible was limping when he was wrestling with the angels. Foot drop occurs very often, and it is a very common condition in trauma, after surgery, and neurological diseases. The aim of this project is to identify an endo-prosthesis and test it bio-mechanically and bio- medically in order to resolve the problem. This endo-prosthesis must improve the quality of life for patients suffering from foot drop due to the injury to the common peroneal nerve. The device that must be created should be small and surgically will be attached to the muscle internally and work as if the muscles and nerve were intact. The device would be tested outside the human body. It is important to throw light on that the device should be made of a material that is accepted by the human body and should have a stiffness that is close to the weight of the foot to ensure a normal motion. The intent of this bio-mechanical device is to help patients suffering from foot drop to restore normal motion. An endo-prosthesis that is implanted in the foot might be the solution to foot drop disease. The endo-prosthesis has a major role to do the opposite movement and...
Possible orthotic solutions of Pes equinovarus congenitus
Michalová, Petra ; Černý, Pavel (advisor) ; Šolc, Zdeněk (referee)
Author: Petra Michalová Title: Possible orthotic solutions of Pes equinovarus congenitus Objective: The aim of this thesis is to point out and summarize the available options for solving the issue of Pes equinovarus congenitus. This thesis should also out provide vital information regarding the functional principles and technical composition of equipment and assess the influence of individual types of correction braces and create a basic overview of the relevant subject. The work is focused on the influence of knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO) and ankle- foot orthosis (AFO) orthoses in one-sided congenital malformation of Pes equinovarus congenitus demonstrated on one case report. Methods: A proband at the age of about 1 with diagnosis of unilateral congenital malformation of the right lower limb (pes equinovarus congenitus) was involved. The proband was measured accordingly to provide specific data for the production of orthoses and then the subsequent production of three variants of orthosis suitable in the specific case of the solved proband took place. Results: The KAFO brace was proved to be the most efficient choice in this particular case. Keywords: pes equinovarus congenitus, congenital defect, lower limb deformity, orthotics, orthosis, KAFO, AFO
